In Manila most of my games are basketball and volleyball. Our company organized only 2 type of team sports based on our employees population. Yet i managed to play basketball frequently since our house in Manila is just a walk away from the court. My badminton skills started when i was college. I got the award as beginner in double category.

Being a son of farmer, i have an athletic body during my younger years. So my speed is good and my smashing power is amazing. Now at the age of 35 I felt the slow down of my smashing power and energy. Yet i still to manage the level D.

Working 5 days in a week from one of the BPO company in Cebu, my favorite game now as well as my friends is badminton. I am now a member of Minglanilla Badminton Club and we usually play every Saturday and Sunday in Minglanilla and Naga City. But hey, this bike is now 3. The latest addition is for 3 years old baby who can travel with his bike at 5km per hour. Biking is a great health saver for me now. This is the fastest way i can reduce fats and save more from doctors fee. This could also be good suggestion for a team building activity. I learned that it was a very fortunate hand that allowed me to join company delegation of ten managers at the City Sports Club last June 10, 2008 to attend the John Maxwell Leadership Summit. I learned that that was the day of reckoning if I could be the leader I wanted to become.

After hearing the introductory speeches and Dulce belting out a show stopping Lupang Hinirang, I learned that it was awesome to simply stand in the presence of John Maxwell, never mind that he was not there in the flesh but only on broadcast- live miles away from Shangrila Hotel in Makati.

Finally i realize after 5 hours that it is going no where. The sites before that are giving link juice is no longer functional. Google might change the algorithm or the wordpress theme have updated again and it remove the do follow.

After a 5 days of rush blaster, site update, translation of Spanish language and off page optimiztion, our Call center site is now live. Checking its pages has reduced from 300 to only 50 pages. Checking its link also reduce from 40 and now 30.

Nevertheless it is PR 4 and enjoying reasonable traffics despite of losing PPC. Saturday is suppose to be a rest day but i tested my used vehicles capability to travel at long distance carying heavy loads. After 3 hours travel i deduce that the used vehicles from Korea is satisfactory so i move to the next level which is beautification.

Now is sunday so i check and work in another site. Sad to say traffic got 50% less and its keywords ranking for call center in the Philippines have move from 1 to 3. So i will be working hard now to find the reason and remove it if that would bring back tofirst.

This is the continuation of our Call Center interoffice Marketing Olympics. Here I just post the Mechanics of the 2009 Marketing Olympics

Mechanics:

There will be two groups to be divided evenly for each group according to specializations. Each pair will draw lots with 1 or 2.... The drawn number will be that person’s assigned group

Final groups will organize themselves and hold their own meetings and prepare their presentations. Final presentation will be on July 3, 2009, Friday at 10:00 am – 12noon. Groups will be given a maximum of 40 minutes each to make their presentations. Order of presentation will be determined by drawing of lots.

Judging will be done by the organizer and two guest judges to be announced later. There will be no strict criteria for judging however, the theme for the contest will be used as the general reference in choosing the winner.

There will only be one winning team to be scored using an averaging system based on the three judges’ scores based on a 10 point scale.

I will buy 1 big calda pizza to celebrate. The losing team is encouraged to chip in to buy drinks and possibly another pizza. This will be as snacks later in the afternoon.

As before, proposals must include briefs on targeted audience and the communications strategy.

Please be reminded that the theme for this year is Reinvention so the quality of the proposal will be judged based on how well the theme is expressed, whether it be in creating a new way of doing business, building a totally new brand image, tapping a new market through creativity, etc.

There are situation that you need to put the customer hanging for the while specially if the information that being request to you are not in your data list. There are situation like computer or technical problems when the client call so you have to put them into hold.

Here are some tips i found in the net that for sure helpful to a call center agent and also in local telesales marketing employees.

Apologize and inform the customer that you’re going to put him on-hold.
Inform the customer the reason why you need to him on-hold.
Ask permission from the customer before putting him on-hold.
Try to place your customer on-hold for a maximum of two minutes. If you need more time, get back to the customer and inform him that you need to place him on-hold again.
When getting back to the customer after the hold, apologize and thank the customer for holding the line.

Inbound customer service badly needed this kind of information as they bombarded with inquiries from customers and clients.

After 2 day of no rain, i brought my Multicab on the way to call center work. I do expect the rain that day so I decided to spend P200 worth of gasoline rather than experiencing colds due to rain.

Last May 21, I able to hear the news about Philippine gross development products which is express in rate. The news said we will have 1.8% to 2.8% in this first quarter.

It is said the increase of GDP is due to business specializing in services specially the Call Center Companies in the Philippines which is scattered around the country like Cebu, Davao, Negros and Samar.

Secretary and former Senator Recto said the remittance from Overseas Filipino workers are also fueling the economy.

Well the Pinoy concerned and issues in this report by NEDA through the known senator is clear. We are growing because of Filipino Inbound Customer services and Filipino workers abroad.

We are not earning through Government companies or industry LRT transportation, PNOC, PNC etc etc. In short the government do not have earning companies which we should have. We should have manufacturing plant that is producing world class products and of course jobs in Million of Filipino.

This is what is a clear support on my idea to have a president who came from the line of Engineers. Their thinking are production and innovation rather that a leader who came from Law, Military and Business.

The concerned once again is that we do not have enough choice to elect for President. Both are coming from the line of business which is the same with the expiring president who did nothing after more than 6 years in the service.

Another issues here is that the logic that our country have positive GDP in which in contrast to the news about the number of retrenched employees coming from Manufacturing plants like Intel. I just hear that LEAR and Smart Company also retrenched some of its workers. While we do not have jobs and companies to hire, we or the country is still earning? That is a big question of logic Mr. Senator.

Yesterday - Saturday of April 25, 2009 starting 9Am until 3pm, the whole of Central Visayas from Samar, Cebu, Negros to Bacolod have lost the power and we are deem isolated for more than 60 hours.

While sitting in the sofa waiting to get the lights back, Imagine ourselves without power.

1. No Internet surfing
2. No off line games or my favorite starcraft.
3. No web design work.
4. No DVD nor TV.
5. No Electric Fan and cold water.
6. No badminton since there is no fan and lights.

Wow i can not bear this for more than 24 hours.

The NPC said they was a line transmission off of power in Samar. They tried to return the power 3x but it goes more damage as it did not come back for 6 hours.

There's a need for me to do my task as this is my day for my Outsourcing Service. I am thinking of going to the mall since they use generator yet the travel time is almost 1 hour and the gasoline is more expensive than renting internet.

Imagine there is no power. What the IT can do and how the IT will earn if we do not have power.

Yesterday I brought my motorcycle to Skygo service center for maintenance. There was some leakage besides the clutch and the mechanics replace the rubber.

In the motorcycle break portion, the Mechanics clean and replace the spring because when i push the break it wont return causing the motorcycle to stop.

The gas gauge is now working. He made some bending on the metal inside the gasoline tank.

He balance the wheel for the last time i got tire flat, i just return it by my own. I noticed that before that i ma running awkward because of in balance back wheel. But now it is fine.

I proceed to TESDA to inquire the training program for the IT programmer only to learn that they only offer C++. I proceed to STI and found nothing suite to my needs. Its already 6 so i just picked my wife in review center. Wow the whole day is wasted.

Back in the house, i work with the adwords at it seems some keywords now is too expensive. Imagine a keywords worth P23.5 per click and in your adsense you will earn P5. Google is getting more richer.

Spending the Sunday looking for solution in my PC

I spend almost half day of my Sunday looking for better anti virus because i find out that my
AVG is no longer effective. They could not find the virus yet my eyes does. So i got this 1 know as Nod 32. and the virus is found located in my favorite games Starcraft.

Last 2 weeks ago i reformat this PC because the dll of microsoft do not run. Of course it is the virus who destroy the dll. I spent almost 1 day repairing this PC and after 1 week the virus come back. Never trust AVG now for it. Try another one like this.

It finds 2 virus the well know virus that hide in recycle folder in your flash drive and the otherone just stay with installers.

Desire Motorcycle

My SKygo motorcycle is a known as Skygo Desire. It is color red and the design is the same as Honda. It is now so heavy and not so fast that it only run 80km per hours. It is automatic starter but after 1 year the battery need recharging so i usually used kick starter. I already replaced two interior since i got flat tired many times. The vulcanizing technician said the interior are not good so i purchased the expensive one.

I have no complain on the speed even I was always left behind at the start specially on stop light were motorcycle troops in the front of the street corner. What trouble me know is the poor qualify of the gas meter. It is just less than 1 year and i the meter is no longer functioning. The other things that worry me is the break. Its hard to press and i ofter feel that i am sliding whenever i breaks.

The customer service of the Skygo is not poor neither best, at least they are servicing. Unfortunately they did not give me the reason before when i am having difficulty in starting the bike. It is just recharging battery yet i took me other person to know it.

In general, my skygo is less expensive, it serve me well as i ride together with my wife and children regularly. I got 2 accidents already but its not my fault neither the quality of the motorcycle. I honestly enjoyed my first motorcycle.

Jeepney Strike in Cebu

Last monday the transport group in Cebu have their strike paralizing thousands of student, workers and travellers. On this day also, i discover that my skygo motorcycle is flat so i have to dwell with the commuters.

What disappointing here in Cebu is that the local and city government do not have contigency plan to address this problem. In Manila, whenever there are transport strikes, the government use various public vehicles like trucks to help the commuters. Private bus are allowed to move within the city and the color coding scheme is off.

Fortunately, I was late by 2o minutes after hanging in a provincial bus that normally overloaded.
Gush, is there still transportation law in Cebu. Wake LTO, you only give ticket to no helmet driver but overloading and reckeless driving are seem legal here.

The ASEAN Purpose

The purpose of a great leader, to govern and build bridges that will help his country to progress, along with the citizen. So, ASEAN was born and it was brought partly by the ideology to attain peace, unity and shared societies resulting in a progressive nation not only within its members but also within the countries. Apart from the objective of broadening economic integration of the ten Member Countries of ASEAN, a serious challenge facing ASEAN is how to narrow the development gap among its members to quicken the pace of integration. It is not an easy task since the stages of political, educational, social and economic development in ASEAN vary, such that there are countries that cannot cope with all the requirements of regional integration.

Moreover, ASEAN needs to narrow the development gaps not only among ASEAN member countries, but also the gaps within each member country. Support for the development of sub-regional growth areas will facilitate bridging these development gaps. Furthermore, government must harmonize and resolve finally with other countries by eliminating poverty and diversity. As the saying goes “external problems can never be solved if there are conflicts within themselves,” so government should focus first on the problems inside their territory so that the key to another level can be obtained, and it would be easy to cope with the development among countries.

The overall objective of the Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN is not only to engage with ASEAN Leaders in exchanging views and resolving issues affecting community building efforts but also to bring ASEAN’s activities to the common people in the grassroots level and make them better understand and appreciate ASEAN. The Chairmanship’s vision is directed towards … “a conscious community of its diverse cultures and bound by a common regional awareness, where people strive for equitable access to opportunities specially education and knowledge for total human development regardless of gender, race, religion, language, or social and cultural background.”

Having different philosophies in life is not a problem but a challenge that our leaders have carried the torch of guidance – which leads to solve by empowering and sustaining the momentum of equitable rights and responsibility blending unlike notions to create dynamic answers to the problems of every human kind. As the atmosphere happening within the countries of ASEAN, it meets with the upcoming ASEAN summit that may help to promote common values and norms connecting diverse cultures to bridge the future of a new generation of safe, peaceful, united and progressive society.
